The fifth annual “2024 Future Grand Meetup,” organized by the Taiwan Digital Enterprise Association (hereafter “TDEA”), was held on October 4 in Taichung. The “Future Grand Meetup” is a cross-regional, cross-sector event and industry exchange platform aimed at breaking boundaries and sparking innovative ideas through the convergence of different communities. This year’s event brought together representatives from 25 second-generation (2G) entrepreneur communities and over 600 2G business leaders, making it the largest gathering to date. Promate Group’s Chief Strategy Officer Andy Chen was invited to share insights on the transformation journey of a second-generation enterprise, alongside keynote speakers including SAP Global Vice President and Managing Director of SAP Taiwan, Darren Chiu, and Pegatron Chairman, Tung Tzu-hsien, who collectively explored forward-looking perspectives on various industries.

“Since its inception, TDEA has been dedicated to upgrades, transformation, innovation, and net-zero initiatives,”

She highlighted that TDEA’s membership comprises corporate leaders from across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, spanning multiple industries, as well as resources from academia and the public sector. TDEA’s core competency lies in bridging these “weak connections” and helping all participants co-create a new ecosystem.

Promate Group Chief Strategy Officer Andy Chen aims to forge a new path through the establishment of the in-house brand “TROPOX.” The goal is to expand TROPOX applications into four areas—energy creation, energy storage, intelligent solutions, and energy efficiency—helping all enterprises address the inevitable challenges of energy conservation and carbon reduction.
Promate Group Explores a New Path With the “TROPOX” Brand
In a talk entitled “Family Business Innovation and Transformation—Finding the Right Position Between Preservation, Transformation, and Innovation,” Chen recounted his own journey from studying in a 2G entrepreneur program to joining TDEA, and from front-end business development to back-end operations management. He described the three-year COVID-19 pandemic as a turning point: forming a “national team” to supply pandemic-related products with other 2G entrepreneurs, participating in the A+ Innovation and R&D Program, and attending TDEA’s “Zero Carbon University.” These experiences revealed to him that “when a group of people shares the same goal, they have the power to build something new.” He also realized that success in the future hinges on achieving tangible results in energy-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives.
Thus, Chen launched TROPOX in hopes of blazing a new trail by creating a proprietary brand. He plans to broaden its scope into four major domains: energy creation, energy storage, intelligent solutions, and energy efficiency—addressing the pressing challenge of energy savings and carbon reduction that no enterprise can afford to ignore.
“A group of people who share the same vision can go much farther,” Chen emphasized. He advocates for making the most of each company’s resources, exchanging knowledge, and finding opportunities to collaborate. This, he believes, is how today’s 2G entrepreneurs can work together to develop new business models.
TDEA’s Role in Fostering Collaboration Among 2G Entrepreneurs
TDEA Executive Director Alice Wang pointed out that from the first “Second-Generation Entrepreneurs Conference” in 2018 to this year’s fifth “Future Grand Meetup”, TDEA’s 2G initiative has expanded from 7 second-generation communities and over 200 attendees to 25 communities and over 600 participants. This remarkable growth underscores how the meetup has become a must-attend event for second-generation entrepreneurs across Taiwan, and it also highlights TDEA’s strong influence in the country’s 2G ecosystem. Notably, this year marked the first collaboration with the Cambridge University Alumni Association, reflecting TDEA’s commitment to supporting 2G entrepreneurs in establishing a global perspective. Next year, TDEA plans to invite more overseas second-generation groups, ensuring the world sees Taiwan’s innovations and achievements!
